BOOK MARKETING SERVICES is a specialist
marketing consultants group, started in 1987 offering
package of marketing and sale promotion services in the Indian market
to publishers of books and journals in
Science,
Technology
&
Medicine;
Humanities and Social
Science; Law & International
Relations; Arts, Crafts
& Design;
and Politics & Current Affairs.
Book Marketing Services, started in
1987, is owned and managed by S.Janakiraman, who has logged
in three decades of
experience in the Indian book industry having worked for a publisher who had later become a wholesale distributor, for 18 long years. He has covered the length and breadth of India visiting educational
institutions and research laboratories calling on librarians, teaching and research
faculty members and scientists.
Over the
period of
time, he has
also
established
excellent
contacts
with people
in the
Indian book
trade.
He started his career as a college
traveller with an Indian
affiliate of an American college text book publisher, he advanced to managing the sales across the nation and in the process gained
experience in publishing -
editorial
&
production.
He was also
responsible
for marketing and distribution of books, training sales force, setting up branches and negotiating agency arrangement for distribution.
In Book
Marketing
Services, he
has built up
an
exhaustive
mailing list
covering
libraries of
various
categories,
research
laboratories,
teaching
faculties by
subjects and
booksellers
and library
suppliers,
and
subscription
agents. He now has an
able team of staff to assist him in in-house designing and setting matters for catalogues and bulletins, updating the mailing lists on continued basis and implementing mailing schedules.
He edits
&
publishes a
monthly
bulleting
entitled
INTERACTION,
which
focuses
publishing
activities
of the
publishers
handled by
Book
Marketing
Services.
This
bulletin is
mailed to
over 1000
addresses
every month
covering
libraries of
all
categories,
booksellers
&
library
suppliers,
subscription
agents and
to a select
list of
members of
local
scientific
societies.
Janakiraman
travels to
major cities
in India
more than
once a year
and to other
educationally
important
cities and
towns at
least once a
year.
